EATING FISH -- BENEFITS OUTWEIGH RISKS!

Two new studies recommend that Americans continue to keep fish as part of a healthy diet because the benefits of eating fish outweigh the health risks. The Institute of Medicine reviewed the recent literature on fish and health, and it concluded that healthy adults can safely consume up to 12 ounces of fish a week.

Fish provides a source of lean protein and good omega-3 fatty acids. In a second study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health drew similar conclusions about the benefits of eating fish. They estimated that eating one to two servings of fish a week could reduce the risk of heart attack by about a third.

The Institute of Medicine report goes softer on the heart benefits of eating fish, saying there "may be" some reduction in heart attack risk. It also said that it is not clear whether it is eating the fish that reduces the risk of heart attacks or whether it's what fish lovers are not eating -- fatty meats like steak and hamburger -- that's important.

Anything coming out of those Medical Institutes is suspect!

I think that old fellow up near Detroit Michigan said it best when he compared "blowed out" animal products that we eat, with the health of kids and adults. He said, "When men get hold of animals he blows them up and then he blows up. Fill 'em so full of chemicals and steroids it ruins the people." Ain't that the truth.

Best thing you can do is keep on eating that wild caught game and fish!

I think there can be nothing but benefit from eating fish, especially wild caught fish. Like Mr. Rasch said, wild game is the best because it lacks any artificial additives. I also believe medical journals try to find a way to say everything is bad for you so you'll go to the doctor and order up another prescription. After all, if something doesn't make us sick, they can't profit off it.

Albert and Jon,

I couldn't agree with you more! Between hormones, antibiotics, steroids and preservatives in our meat,we have mutated all of the disease, and then we can't create a vaccine for it! Most diseases are antibiotic immune and mankind becomes very vulnerable! Thanks for the visit and and your highly valued opinions are very helpful!
